Another World

A glance into pools of the void took my breath,

I dipped in my toes and was taken below.

My limbs began to freeze, for the air was cold as death.

Eyes fixated to the North, I saw a somber figure with a faint glow.

Delicate whispers flow down the corridor of things I knew, but could not describe.

The shadow towers over me, eyes piercing through my core.

It’s voice bellows down below, smooth and chilling, “You cannot hide.

Dancing vines with purple eyes wrap around my body and bring me to the floor,

And from the sky, amethyst shards rain down across the lakes.

Crystal pieces delicately slice little maps of the stars across my skin.

This familiar being envelopes me with every breath it takes,

It’s aroma is intoxicating, pulling me further in.

Sanctuary was never close to home,

Yet within it’s temple of darkness, the feeling has never been more near.

Even with a certain mist of ambiguity that shrouds it’s throne,

Here I kneel, waiting to join in it’s cosmic dance around the hemisphere.
